• Meet Your Handyman

Hi! My name is Ben Rickard. I’m a Boulder native- Boulder Community Hospital class of ’69, BHS class of ’87- and have spent my lifetime building and fixing things. Through the years, I have worked in landscaping as well as construction. I owned and operated The Dog Spot and The Cat Pad for 18 years, building two facilities. In addition to this, I maintained the operating condition doing all manner of repair as well as installing electrical and plumbing fixtures, building storage spaces and brainstorming unexpected trouble areas. I have built various buildings, both interior and exterior- demoing our house after the floods of 2013, constructing a livable space in a cinderblock outbuilding (bathroom, kitchen, living area and bedroom) and worked on the crew that constructed our new house in 2014.

    I Can't Do It All...

I also know what I can’t do, and if a job is too big, or I don’t know how to do it, I’ll tell you and point you in the right direction. I’ve been to too many jobs where I was hired to fix the things the previous handyman did incorrectly. My job is to help solve your problems, not create new ones!

    Why Hire Me?

I founded, owned and operated a very successful business in Boulder for 18 years. I understand the importance of honesty, integrity and the role they play in establishing long term relationships. I don’t want to just do one job, I want to be the first person you consider for all your jobs moving forward! Incidentally, my years of working with dogs and cats has given me the experience on how to (or not to) interact with your animals while coming into their space. The importance of closing doors and gates is also always at the forefront of my mind!
